You Belong in Seattle Council PTSA!
Seattle Council PTSA represents over 80 PTAs and PTSAs in Seattle Public Schools. Centering the voices of those furthest from educational justice, we support, inform, and advocate for and with school communities across Seattle.
We are searching for student- & equity-centered leaders to serve on the Seattle Council PTSA Executive Board or Board of Directors for the 2026-27 fiscal year. All positions are for one-year terms (from July 1st, 2026 through June 30, 2027).
If you are interested in a SCPTSA position, please fill out our self-nominations/interest form and we’ll reach out to talk with you. If you know someone that might be interested in one of these positions, please feel free to forward this form to them. Thank you for considering!!
Election Requirements, Board Roles & Organizational Values
Our Executive Board roles are elected positions. They consist of President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. We welcome co-leaders (two individuals that agree to share the role) for all positions as we believe this supports diversity and allows us to uplift and learn from one another in our roles.
The remaining roles on our full Board of Directors are appointed roles. They include Communications Chair, Legislative Advocacy Chair, Membership Chair, and many more. Please see our list of Roles & Responsibilities and our Standing Rules for additional information.
SCPTSA strives for a board that equitably represents the students of the district we serve. We value the leadership of underrepresented communities—including BIPOC, English Language Learners, LGBTQIA+, and Disabled individuals—and we strongly encourage your participation. We believe the wisdom of a highly diverse group of leaders—one inclusive of families with students furthest from educational justice—is imperative to make every child’s potential a reality.
As a PTSA, we are committed to inclusivity and doing whatever it takes to make it easier for underrepresented families to participate—including remote access, interpretation, translated materials, technical support, mentorship, and more. We strive to cultivate an environment where every leader can show up as their full, authentic selves, is welcomed into a collaborative and supportive environment, and is valued for who they are and for the unique gifts they bring to the community in support of the PTA mission.
According to WA State PTA Bylaws, Article 5, Section 6(G), in order to be elected to office (Executive Board roles) in a Council a person shall:
be at least 18 years of age;
have been a member of a local PTA or Council board of directors for at least one term;
and have been a member of a local PTA in the Council for at least 30 days preceding the election (May 16, 2026).
Our General Membership Meeting & Executive Board Election will take place this year on June 15, 2026, 6:30–8 pm.
If you are interested in a SCPTSA position, please fill out our self-nominations/interest form and we’ll reach out to talk with you. If you know someone that might be interested in one of these positions, please feel free to forward this form to them. Thank you for considering!!
