PTA Leadership
Guidelines
All PTA members, including officers, are individual citizens and can and should do what they believe is best for their children and family regardless of affiliation with PTA. However, individuals should follow National PTA and WSPTA guidance when representing PTA as an organization.

Resources for Students & Families
(should a strike occur)
Seattle Public Schools (SPS) has reached a tentatine agreement with Seattle Educator’s Union and classes for 1st–12th grade students have begun!
If there is a strike, school will not be open for classes. However, SPS will offer as many student supports and activities as possible, including meals, childcare, and selected events.
Childcare
These school-based childcare providers may continue operating in their designated program spaces according to existing agreements. Families should contact their childcare provider directly for the most current information and operating hours and procedures.
The City of Seattle will offer free recreation drop-in programs to support Seattle families. A list of licensed childcare providers accepting new children for full-day care is also included on their website.
School Meals
Free grab-and-go meals (breakfast and lunch) will be available for students at all SPS schools on Sept 2–4, from 9am to 1pm. Students do not need to show identification or complete paperwork to receive meals. Families with multiple students at different schools can pick up all their meals at one site. Meals are for students only.
Health Centers
These school-based health centers may continue operating in accordance with existing agreements. Families should contact their provider directly for scheduling and service information.
Athletics & Activities
Where possible, SPS plans to continue athletic practices and competitions when adequate staffing and operational support are available. Some activities may be adjusted or canceled if these conditions cannot be met. Contact your student’s school directly for more information.
