Washington state is NOT fully funding the cost of basic education, forcing districts across our state to go into “binding conditions,” close schools, lay-off staff, and make cuts to essential services. There is overwhelming consensus across our state that lack of fully funding the “BIG 3”—transportation; materials, supplies, & operating costs (MSOC); and special education—is the reason for our education funding gap!

National PTA represents parents, caregivers, educators and communities of all children, which enables us to best achieve PTA’s mission to make every child’s potential a reality. Our collective backgrounds, perspectives and ideas allow us to create the strongest future and direction for PTA.   

We will discuss PTA’s commitment to diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI), talk about what the 4 I’s in inclusion look like in action, and create space to hear about and support your DEI needs and concerns.

We encourage each PTA to send at least one representative from their executive board so this work can be brought back to full PTA boards and school communities. 

Somali, Spanish, and ASL interpretation will be provided. Please email secretary@scptsa.org with additional interpretation and/or accommodations requests.

SB 5180 Securing the rights of students to have a safe, civil, and respectful learning community that is free of discrimination by ensuring all schools adopt and enforce gender inclusive protections, policies, and procedures.

SB 5123 Relating to expanding protections for certain students to promote inclusivity in public schools.
