The PTA – Parent Teacher Association – is the largest volunteer organization in the United States working since 1987 in schools nationwide to be a powerful voice for all children. All families are welcome in PTA and encouraged to participate. Learn about the important role you play in guiding your child in school and how your involvement in PTA can you help you get the best education possible for the children you love.

Region 6 PTA Fall Conference

Registration details to follow.  All PTA leaders are welcome and encouraged to attend.  This is a great way to refresh your knowledge or learn new information.

As a reminder one qualified PTA training class is required for EVERY elected PTA officer each year.  An additional requirement is that AT LEAST ONE ELECTED OFFICER from each PTA also takes the “PTA and the Law” course.

Pull out those forms, show up at eents and communicate in your newsletters, flyers and e-blasts! Them it. “15 in 15.”  You can get 15 new members in 2015.  I challenge you all!

Paramount Duty

When: Tuesday, January 6, 2015–6:30 to 8:30pm

Where: John Stanford Center Auditorium, 2445 3rd Ave. S., Seattle

Why: Because bake sales and auctions cannot fill funding gaps in basic education

Description: Why are our schools underfunded and over-crowded? What is the Legislature doing about this? What can we do? Hear from two dynamic speakers. Tom Ahearne, (NEWS) the trial lawyer from the McCleary case will speak on how WA State is not meeting its “Paramount Duty” to fully fund education. He will also talk about the latest “contempt” decision on holding our legislators accountable. Andrew Nicholas from the WA State Budget and Policy Center will talk about the challenges of financing basic education and the reforms to the revenue system that can make that possible.
