Meet our elected 2017-2018 SCPTSA Executive Committee members! 

President SEBRENA BURR 
Sebrena is a long-time Seattle community and education advocate. She has served as a local PTSA president and as a state delegate for National PTA, where she strove to include eliminating opportunity gaps in the PTA legislative platform. She started her education advocacy work in early learning and was instrumental in developing the PTA Urban Family Engagement Network. Sebrena has been recognized for her involvement by Wellspring Family Services, the Children’s Alliance, and the Seattle Central Area Chamber of Commerce.

CassandraTreasurer CASSANDRA JOHNSTON
In her fifth year with SCPTSA, Cassandra is a former Council president, during which time she was instrumental in launching the Food for Schools partnership to provide weekend food assistance to students. She also serves as a member of the Mayor’s Education Advisory Committee, the United Way King County Impact Council and co-chair of the Seattle Tutoring Coalition. She has four daughters and enjoys tennis, skiing and the outdoors.

Secretary LINDSAY YOST
Lindsay has two sons in Seattle Public Schools and is a life-long advocate for arts in education. She’s taught dance in public schools both as a full-time, certified teacher in the Dallas, TX area and as a guest artist in Los Angeles. She’s served on the Dance Committee for the Texas Association for Health, P.E., Recreation and Dance and is currently on the WSPTA Reflections Committee and on the WSPTA Region 6 Delivery Team.

Liza Rankin is a parent, advocate, and former SPS student who was recently named a ParentMap Superhero for her many contributions to the community. In addition to serving as the Legislative Chair for her son’s elementary school PTSA, she is also a board member for Sand Point Arts and Cultural Exchange (SPACE) in Magnuson Park.

Andy comes to the SCPTSA with 20+ years teaching and administrating theater education in small towns across America and Canada, overseas US Military bases, and the Seattle Children’s Theatre. He was the Legislative Chair for his neighborhood’s PTA for two years. He lives with his wife and two elementary and middle school-aged children in Madison Valley.
